Overview
We are currently recruiting an IT Technician for a successful privately owned SME that designs and manufactures hi tech equipment for worldwide export with a head office in the UK and 2 small oversea offices.

 

The Role
• Develop, maintain and manage effective relationships with outsourced helpdesk and 3rd party suppliers - service delivery / SLA's.
• Oversee / provide 1st/2nd line support.
• To manage, maintain and support the company’s IT hardware, software and communication systems and services.
• The security and risk management of all infrastructure, systems & data.
• Oversee and manage scheduled IT system back-ups, maintain the IT disaster recovery and data archiving plan.
• Document, manage and maintain IT Policies and Procedures.
• Undertake network administration, upgrades, licencing, user access, etc.
• Plan, monitor and control the IT budget.
• Lead, manage and complete IT related projects on time, on budget and achieving business case justification.
• Proactive identification of cost saving/revenue generating opportunities.
• Development and support of ERP to satisfy business requirements to produce information that improves the ability to make commercially and financially sound decisions.

 

The Person
The ideal education and qualifications are a HND / Degree in IT, Computer Science, Science, Maths or Business Management and relevant Microsoft and ITIL certifications. The ideal candidate’s experience is a proven background supporting the IT function of manufacturing SMEs, to include:
• Demonstrable experience in a 2nd line support function.
• Transact-SQL, SSMS, view and store procedure creation for Excel consumption and enterprise data management.
• Knowledge of, or desire to learn Kimball data modelling/data warehousing, SSIS, SSAS tabular, DAX formulas, SSRS, Power BI, Power Query.
• Microsoft Windows Server configuration and maintenance 2008 and 2016, Active Directory, Group Policy, Hyper-V, SQL Server configuration and optimisation.
• Enterprise backup and antivirus. Basic understanding of firewalls, networks, switches and patch-panels.
• Visual Basic (VBA), Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel development.
• Enterprise software Installation and configuration: ERP, CRM, Engineering Source Control.
• Microsoft desktop OS installation and configuration.
